Open Briefing provides NGOs, aid agencies, search and rescue teams, research expeditions, freelance journalists and others working in remote or insecure environments with the first aid, communications and protective equipment that they need in order to undertake their work in-country safely and effectively.

Our relationships with leading manufacturers and suppliers mean that we are able to provide substantial discounts on the equipment we supply, some of which is normally only available to the military or emergency services. This includes GPS trackers, first aid kits, sat phones and body armour. We can also supply discounted outdoor clothing and equipment, including ration packs and water filters, for example.

In addition, we have expensive but essential equipment available for short-term rental to NGOs or freelance journalists that might not be able to afford to purchase such items otherwise. This currently includes a sat phone. We are seeking funding to also purchase a complete team first aid kit for vehicle, basecamp or office use, including an automated external defibrillator (AED), and several sets of body armour.

Open Briefing is not a shop. Our equipment service is primarily designed to support clients that are commissioning a package of security or training services from us. Orders can only be placed by a recognised charity, NGO, non-profit or other progressive civil society organisation. Freelance journalists qualify if they can demonstrate a professional need for the items they wish to purchase. We do not sell to members of the public.

Please read our full terms and conditions before making an order enquiry.
