Wellbeing and security support for your organisation during the COVID-19 pandemic
As we all adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic and the public health measures necessary to delay its spread, Open Briefing is offering several remote services to help organisations protect their people and operations during these challenging times. This includes contingency planning advisory calls and reviews, staff wellbeing checks and workshops, and digital security during homeworking.
New funded wellbeing support for women human rights defenders
Women human rights defenders face gendered and sexualised attacks in addition to the threats experienced by their male colleagues. Trauma, chronic stress and burnout are very real risks in such circumstances. In response, Open Briefing is launching a new initiative to provide wellbeing support packages to at-risk WHRDs from Latin America.
Open Briefing announces new wellbeing support on International Women Human Rights Defenders Day
Today, we celebrate International Women Human Rights Defenders Day. On this occasion, Open Briefing is announcing new wellbeing support for WHRDs threatened because of their work and gender. Funded by the Evans Cornish Foundation, we will shortly be launching a project to pilot a free remote counselling service for WHRDs.
Counselling and Psychological First Aid
Open Briefing provides counselling and Psychological First Aid (PFA) for individuals and retained service agreements and PFA training for organisations. As part of our commitment to promoting wellbeing and resilience, we have recently expanded our specialist counselling team. We now have two highly-experienced counsellors providing counselling to human rights defenders and humanitarians working in violent, repressive or high-stress environments or in the aftermath of critical incidents.
Walking the walk: Wellbeing and resilience at Open Briefing
One of the fundamental tenets of the way we work at Open Briefing is that we practice what we preach. With that in mind, Open Briefing has now signed up to Mindful Employer Plus, which provides telephone helplines for staff and managers and will offer a listening ear, immediate guidance and signposting to further advice. This is just one of the ways that we try to support team members who may experience stress or trauma through their work or personal lives. If we can help your organisation do the same, please contact us to discuss our wellbeing and resilience services for NGOs.
