Recruiting for members of our new advisory board [Closed]

We are recruiting for a number of voluntary positions to join our advisory board.

Open Briefing is a unique non-profit that counters closing civic space by advancing the physical, digital and psychological security and resilience of at-risk human rights defenders and humanitarians around the world. We focus our resources on supporting high-risk, low-capacity civil society organisations and activists working in violent or repressive environments. We are a unique international collective of humanitarians, human rights defenders, peacebuilders and environmentalists with wide-ranging operational, security and management experience.

Following a major core grant, we are embarking on an exciting period of expansion and institutional development. Whether you are an experienced board member or wanting to take your first step at board level, we want to hear from you. Members of our new advisory board will be based within easy travelling distance of London and have skills in one or more of the following areas:

  • Financial management
  • Networking
  • Fundraising
  • Business mentoring

As an Advisory Board member, you will:

  • Get a clear and structured induction process
  • Receive reimbursable travel expenses
  • Influence and shape an innovative strategy and organisation
  • Counter closing civic space
  • Deliver meaningful impact, on a global scale
  • Be part of a diverse advisory board

The expected time commitment is three half-day advisory board meetings per year in London. In addition, we request that members be available for approximately four hours a month to provide relevant support to our Senior Management Team.

The deadline for applications is Monday 12 August 2019 @ 09:00 UK time, with first round (video call) interviews taking place w/c 2 September 2019. Second round (in person) interviews are scheduled in London for w/c 16 September 2019. We expect to make a final decision w/c 23 September 2019.

To apply for the position, please complete this application form.

All shortlisted candidates will receive a full recruitment pack. For more information, please contact our deputy director, Dan Williamson, at [email protected].
